Ph.D. students currently in programs of developing countries may enter the PhD students' paper competition. Winners will receive free accommodation and travel support, a small grant to support their research and a diploma. All participants with accepted papers will be provided local hospitality for three days (October 6-8, 2009). Participants from developing countries with accepted papers will also be provided some travel support. The Globelics Board will be mobilizing resources for providing such travel support. OCLC has invited the application from young Library and Information Science professionals from developing countries, for The Jay Jordan IFLA/OCLC Early Career Development Fellowship Program for the session 2010. This programme in the form of continuing education have jointly organised by IFLA and OCLC and sponsored by American Theological Library Association. This is a five week programme where five librarians, including a theological librarian gets opportunity to meet with leading information practitioners, visit libraries and explore topics including information technologies, library operations and management and global cooperative librarianship. The Fellows visit selected North American and European libraries, cultural heritage institutions and library organizations. The Fellows also observe OCLC's governance structure in action, gaining insight into issues affecting the global library cooperative.

The Asian Chapter of the Special Libraries Association in conjunction with the Science-Technology Division of the Special Libraries Association is offering a very unique award for one Asia based Master's level student in the field of Library and Information Science
who has a particular interest in a career related to some aspect of the field of Science and Technology librarianship.
The award will fund the costs associated with traveling to Washington, D.C. in June 2009, to attend the Special Libraries Association's
Annual Conference, which also happens to be the SLA's 100th Anniversary. The US$ 1800 Award will cover economy class air fare, lodging while in Washington, D.C., conference registration, a one year membership in the SLA, and incidental expenses.

23rd International Prof Kaula Gold Medal and Citation to Dr. W. Boyd Rayward

Dr. W. Boyd Rayward , Professor, Graduate School of Library & Information Science, University of Illinois (United States) is the 23rd receipient of the Award. The International Award Committee of the Kaula Endowment for Library & Information Science has selected Dr. W. Boyd Rayword for the International Prof Kaula Gold Medal and Citation.
Prof. Kaula Endowment for Library and Information Science was formed on 13th March,1975, at the 51st Birthday of the world-renowned library educator, bibliographer,library and information scientist, UNESCO Expert & professional journalist of overfive decades, Prof. P.N. Kaula, with Guntur(Andhra Pradesh)as its headquarter. TheEndowment decided to award International Kaula Gold Medal & Citation to a topranking professional who was distinguished himself as a library & informationscientist or educator in library & information science. This Award is given away every year from 1975 onwards. There are 22 distinguished reciepients of the Award from 11 countries & some international organisations.
The International Award is named after Prof. Kaula who has been described as the "Apostle" of the world famous Indian Library Science Genious Dr. S.R. Ranganathan.
Widely travelled, Prof. Kaula has served UNESCO Expert in UNESCO Regional Centre in Western Hemisphere for Latin American Countries(1967-68) & has been a legendry figure & has received several national & international awards including"
